I also played Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, another game using the same engine as NieR and Bayonetta, with no issues. I played XCOM2 on Windows 7 with the same mouse, and had no problems. I actually found this issue while diagnosing a problem with XCOM2: I found that mouse movement worked on the game but not the clicks. Turns out that the driver software for this mouse, Kensington Trackballworks, has some issues with Windows 10, mainly with games or how the games recognize the mouse itself. Motherboards, CPUs, VGAs are common, but the mouse I use is fairly uncommon, even more so for gamers as it's designed with designers in mind, I think. As the issue was getting nowhere, I started looking out for things that my setup had that no other had, as it seems I'm the only one with this issue or the only one talking about it. Thanks a lot in advance, if only by reading this.Īfter a month of trying, ( and in no thanks to both Sega and SquareEnix support) I finally found what was causing the issue and was able to isolate it to a degree: The driver for my mouse, a Kensington Expert Mouse. I eagerly await any answer whatsoever about this. I hope I'm not breaking some rule by posting this.ĭo anyone here know how to properly "debug" the issue? I get no messages at all in the Event Viewer, it's not a crash so I'm completely lost. The only common factor among those two games is that they're both developed by Platinum Games, and the issue is exactly the same. I'm posting here out of desperation to see if anyone has any idea of what the issue could be. The game's developers (Platinum Games) are unreachable on this matter, they've got no support mail nor contact information. The retailer I've purchased the games with refuses to give me a refund, saying that the games "Should run in my machine", so I'm left with $60+ of wasted money on digital garbage. I've tried anything I can come up with and then some, to no avail. The machine is new, I built it 3 weeks ago. No event logs relating to the issue appear in the Windows Event Viewer. Running the game in 640x480 resolution, using the Compatibility tab in Windows's properties Tried running the games with another, fresh Windows account Running the game in Safe Mode + Networking Running the games in Compatibility Mode with Windows 7 and Windows 9 Verifying the integrity of the games' files in Steam Rolling back my VGA's drivers (up to 3 previous versions) Steps I've taken unsuccessfuly in an attempt to fix the issue: No errors, no log in the Windows Event Viewer, nothing. In short, this is the issue: When I try to launch, via Steam, either NieR:Automata or Bayonetta (both games by Platinum Games), I get a white window with the game's title in my screen, then after a second or so it closes. I've recorded a short 30-second video of the issue I'm experiencing. Hi everyone! I'm posting here because I'm running out of options, and the developers of the games in question aren't responding after more than 3 weeks of questions.
